Latest News - May 2007

On 1 May we added a further 28 properties covering 558,902 acres. All these properties include maps created with our new mapping and can be seen highlighted in read on the Search page.

Latest News - April 2007

We now have a further 44 properties covering a further 281,630 acres published in two new counties, Dumfries and Dunbarton. These properties also include the new mapping that we are using following the termination of our relationship with Ordnance Survey. Progress is slow in creating new mapping since I have very little spare time. However, we hope to have most of it prepared and published by the end of Summer 2007.

Latest News - February 2007

In January 2006, I reported adding 18 more properties covering 76,447 acres. This was the last update of data in 2006. In July 2006 I moved to Ethiopia where I plan to continue expanding the site but have been unable to do so in recent months due to various factors. I do hope to have data on Dumfries up within the next 6 weeks.

The most important news, however, concerns our relationship with the Ordnance Survey. It is now over and all the map images have had to be removed from the site. We have started constructing new map images from alternative mapping but it will be some time before the site is fully populated once more

These properties, together with every other on the site, are searchable using our map-based navigation system. You can now search for the land you are interested in by zooming in on an Ordnance Survey map. Click here [disabled due to Ordnance Survey dispute] to experience!

PROGRESS TO DATE

We now have a total 1406 landholdings covering 8,260,869 acres of private land published on the site. This represents 51% of all privately-owned rural land in Scotland.

Our target is to document the ownership of 75% all privately-owned rural land in Scotland together with the larger publicly-owned properties. We will not be documenting Forestry Commission land as each holding would add considerably to the workload and because the boundaries of FC land are already shown on Ordnance Survey maps.

Current data on the site is broken down as follows:-
